Overview
Shule Crowdfund is a targeted micro-capital initiative that provides small, accountable seed funding and business support to families caring for the most vulnerable children in our communities. By combining donor contributions with hands-on training, mentorship and market linkages, the program helps caregivers establish or scale income-generating enterprises—strengthening household resilience, reducing hunger and improving children’s access to education.
How it works
Application & vetting. Caregiver households affiliated with Shule Child Aid Africa submit short business proposals. Applicants are assessed for viability, need, and commitment.
Seed capital. Approved households receive a one-time microgrant or soft loan between USD 50–500, tailored to the enterprise plan.
Business support. Recipients receive short technical training, basic bookkeeping, and a designated mentor for the first 6–12 months.
Monitoring & reporting. We track outcomes on income, food security, and child welfare; recipients submit periodic progress reports and participate in peer learning sessions.
Scale & recycle. Successful repayments or returns are partially recycled into the fund to support additional households, amplifying donor impact.
Eligible enterprises
Examples include small-scale agriculture, poultry, grocery/kiosk, hairdressing/barbers, food vending, tailoring, and other low-barrier, income-generating activities that demonstrate local market demand.
